ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact ofplanning andforecasting on organizationalperformnce with a particular reference to Nigeria Bottling Company Pic Irete Onitsha Road Owerri, Imo state Nigeria. The objective isto determine ifa significantrelationship exists between strategicplanning in a business organization and its growth, to investigate ifadequateforecasting helps in ensuring efficient productivity ofthe business and to identify the major toolsfor planning andforecasting and how to effectively use those to reduce businessfailures or distress. Survey method ofanalysis was adoptedfor the study. A set ofstructured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection and administered to 250 respondent randomly using Taro Yaniane and 154 were duly filledandreturned. The datawas then analyzed using SPSS version. The resultshowedforecasting and Budget tool show a positive and significant relationship with Business growth, this implies that other planning activities likeforecasting and budgeting in Nigerian Bottling Company also contribute to the business potentials enjoyed by the organization. The study therefore concludes, for any business organization to continue as a going concern, planning andforecasting strategies must be deployed andat the right time to help boost the activities ofthe organization andposition such economic entity in a more competitive way toprofit the owners and variousstakeholders. The study recommends that effective feedback mechanism is recommended to be integrated in the planning andforecasting strategies to enable management to compare plans with the outcome.
