ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact of Government expenditure on infrastructural development of Nigeria. The study covered from 1995 to 2016. The specific objectives were to determine the impact of capital expenditure on road infrastructure development in Nigeria. to ascertain the impact of capital expenditure on agriculture infrastructure development in Nigeria, to examine the impact of capital expenditure on power infrastructure development in Nigeria. Secondaiy data was used for the study and the data was sourced from central bank of Ni8eria Statistic bulletin.. The sourced data was analyzed with simple regression. The findings of this study revealed that capital expenditure has positive and insignificant impact on road infrastructure development in Nigeria, capital expenditure has positive and insignificant impact on agriculture infrastructure development in Nigeria, capital expenditure impact has positive and insignificant impact on power infrastructure development in Nigeria. It was recommended that Nigeria government should adopt stringent controls on its expenditures on infrastructure development so as to reduce fraud, fiend diversion and mismanagement of fund been allocated for infrastructure developmen4 Moreover, monitoring and evaluation of government spending on infrastructure development must be given top priority.
