Impact Of Financial Accounting Reporting On The Profitability Of Quoted Companies (A Case Study Of Ecobank Plc, Umuahia)
ABSTRACT
This topic, the
impact of financial Accounting Reporting on profitability of Quoted companies
using Ecobank Plc (library Avenue), Umuahia as a case study was carried out to
critically appraise the impact of financial reporting on corporate
profitability. The purpose of the study is to ascertain among other things, the
relationship between financial reporting and corporate profitability and
analyzing the causes of high report among quoted companies. The survey for
study covers Ecobank Plc library Avenue, Umuahia. This was a survey research
and the instruments used by the researcher in collection of data were oral
interview and a researcher designed fifteen (15) item structured questions. A
total of one hundred and forty one (141) questionnaires were administered and
one hundred and twenty (120) were properly filled and returned for analysis.
Two (2) hypotheses were stated and were tested using Chisquare test technique
at 5% level of significance. The result of the findings indicates that
inaccurate financial reporting negatively affects corporate profitability and
that external Auditors of quoted W companies are riot independent in carrying
out their Audit work. The researcher therefore recommends that there should be
strict adherence to financial accounting reporting standards and effective
internal control system that will ensure independence and competency of
external Auditors.
