Identification And Characterization Of Bio-Active Ingredient From The Medicinal Plant Persea Americana (Lauraceae) (Avocado Leaf):-Akwada, Ugochukwu C.
ABSTRACT
The leaves of Persea Americana were
analyzed for its bioactive compounds. The phytochemical analysis confirms the
quantitative presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phenols
which aie bio-protective to the body system. The Gas Chromatography- Mass
Spectrum (Gt -MS) anal} sis oi the ethanolic extracts showed the presence oftwo
esters comprising ol [l]Hexadecanoic acid methyl ester,[2] Octadecanoic acid
methyl ester. The result authenticates the use ot the leaves in the treatment
of wound, convulsion and reduction of high blood pressure
