ABSTRACT
A forest is a vegetation
dominated by trees with interlocking branches. A tree has a bole of up to or
greater than 5.0 metres. Many plant species existing in the forest have been
identified, described and botanical name given to each species. In a forest,
trees are classified as the emergent, the upper tree canopy, the lower tree
canopy, and the shrubs and herbaceous layer. In a mature forest, the shrub and
herbaceous layer is very open. It was only within a large tree fall gap that
numerous seedlings attempting to occupy the gap that obstruction of vision for
50.0m distance was observed.
