Enhancing Investment Portfolio Through Audited Financial Statement: A Study Of Some Selected Companies In Akwa Ibom State
ABSTRACT
This project work
examines financial statements as an instrument for enhancing investment
portfolio. Data were sourced through interviews, questionnaires, textbooks,
journal and other literature. 'l'he Chi-square statistical technique was
adopted in testing the hypothesis. The study found out that one way of ensuring
that managerial investment decisions are profitable is in measuring the cost
benefit of such investment and in attesting to the degree of stewardship and
accountability of top management. Independent auditors auditing a firms
financial statement shOuld ensure that the financial data included in these
statements have been prepared properly in accordance with the generally
accepted accounting principles and practice and that the fairly represent the
true position of the firm, it further shows that audited financial statements
are useful investment decisions for both individuals and companies.
Conclusively for an organization to be able to attract more investors, it must
prepare its financial statement base on the generally accepted principle and
practice all relevant disclosure be properly disclose. It is therefore
recommended that more information should be included in audited account so as
to aid the external users of these accounts in their decisions making.
