ABSTRACT
Branding is a major issue in
product strategy on the one hand, and also in the product marketing and
management. Developing a branding, therefore requires a greater deal of long
term investment, especially for advertising promotion and profitable and
competitive customer satisfaction (Inyanga, 2004). The subject matter of
branding has been an old phenomenon in both the manufacturing and marketing
organization. As a result of our attractive and fascinating brand names, there
has been different preference in the taste and fashion of product especially
that of the detergent industry as observed by Anyanwu (2000). Brand management
therefore, consists of all the efforts made by firms in promoting and
protecting the image of their individual brands against damage or even being
lost entirely by competitors. In order to remain in the marketing and achieve
customer loyalty, proper management plan, however, should be given to brands
because a power brand name is said to have consumer franchise. This implies
that consumers prefer to buy a
particular brand of product area if its price is low (Kotler, 2006).
