Design Modification Of A Rice Threshing Machine
ABSRACT
The rice
thresher is a threshing machine that can easily thresh rice from the stalk and
to an extent, clean the sheaves by removing the sheaves and straws. It is designed
and fabricated to solve threshing problem in Rural and Semi-urban Areas in
Nigeria and also minimize cost of purchasing the imported one. Machine cylinder
speed of 660rpm shows that the machine has a threshing efficiency of 70%,
capacity of 60kg/hr and a power requirement of 829W, this implies that a 21-Ip
motor is needed to move the machine. The thresher is efficient with minimal
grain loss of 3.13% at a grain moisture content of 17% (wet basis). This
machine can be dismantled and it's simple to operate, while maintenance,
repair, or adjustment requires little specialist attention. The machine should
be fed with considerable feed rate to avoid clogging.
