ABSTRACT

 A solar powered system operates under the energy gotten from its exposure to the sun. Pure water is most essential for human life. Pure water is not only important for drinking purposes but also for other issue such as boiler makeup or feed water, distilled water for medical purposes etc. The solar powered system has been designed and constructed using locally available materials. The water heating system has an efficiency of 38.8%, the maximum fluid temperature for the water heater was found to be at peak between 12pm and 3pm with the highest occurring at 3pm 52.4°c with a highest recorded solar radiation of 1002.6W/rn2. The solar still with an average efficiency of 15% was valued at 2.04m3/llday.
