ABSTRACT
A static inverter has
been designed and constructed using locally available materials. It is base
driven transistor switch type of inverter with a stable multivibrator which
determines the frequency of the device. However the frequency of the device was
measured to be 48Hz. This value does not tally exactly with the theoretical estimate
of 50Hz obtained using the components. The designed inverter was able to
convert I 2Vdc signal to 220-240Vac signal with frequency of 48Hz. The average
efficiency of the device is 43%. The efficiency of the inverter was found to be
maximum 52% with load of 8k. The efficiency could be improved if the input
current is increased by employing a high capacity car battery or increasing the
capacity of the transformer. This work as an example of application of
electronic circuits in solving real life problems should be given a worthy
attention.
