ABSTRACT
This project presents the
possibility of using electronic components to produce a safely device. The
device is a smoke detector which has been constructed using components such as
resistors, diodes, capacitor, integrated chips (ICs), transistors, microcontroller
(AT89552), buzzer etc. It is a photoelectric type ofsmoke detector that employs
the principle of conservation of energy and the kinetic theory of gases. The
circuit is divided into four main units. Viz: power supply unit, smoke sensing
unit, control unit, light and alarm unit. To ensure a steady supply of power to
this device, 220volts a.c supply and a volts battery was used to supply, power.
The device provides an early warming alarm when there is the menace of fire outbreak.
