ABSTRACT

This study was focused on the synthesis of copper nanoparticles using M. Paradisiaca diffraction (XRD), which shows the size ofthe nanoparticles for 51.9 -86.8 mm using scherrer Electron Microscopy (SEM) which shows that the copper nanoparticles possess cubic, pentagonal and irregular shapes, The results showed the formation of copper nanoparticles, crystalline in nature, with an average size of 48.7nm. The method of detecting Lead (II) ions in wastewater using the colloidal copper nanoparticles was discussed. The minimum and maximum vii 11 detection limit were found to be 50 and 25pM of Pb (II) ions respectively. Thus the obtained result encourage the use of economical synthesis of copper nanoparticles in the detection ofPb (II) ions present in waste water. debye equation. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) which identifies the possible functional groups responsible for the reduction of copper ions to copper nanoparticles. Scanning F 1 t (commonly known as plaintain leaf), leaf extract and the characterization of the particles using UV-Vis spectroscopy, which shows the maximum absorption obtained at 271nm, X-ray.
