ABSTRACT

Modified phytotherapeutic survey was adopted for the present research work. Jcacina • trichantha Oliy was selected on the basis of the claims of the indigenous medical practitioners that suggest (its use against tuberculosis). The root was extracted, macerated and chromatograJhed to ensure purity. Fractions were subjected to severe screening. The residue FEOI macerated and concentrated to obtain, petroleum ether fractions obtained were su~jcctcd lo bio-assay techniques. antimicrobial screening assay (AMA) using agar difTusion method and enzyme assay technique (EAT). Microbial inhibitions in comparison with ciprofloxacin was carried out. Appreciable Chemical inhibitory effect was also registered at all concentrations used. The art tool of C nmr techniques spanning JH, 13C, JH/IH. COSY, IH/'C COSY, DEPT 45, 90 and 135 as well as FAB - mass; Data basing from A.C.Delucidator, further supported the proposed structure .
