ABSTRACT

The experiment was conducted to determine the response of broiler birds fed Rice Milling Waste fermented with varying levels ofbaker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Five treatments were used for the research in which rice milling waste were used to partially replaced maize at 20% with yeast inclusion of 2%,4% ,6%, and 8% of the below treatments 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively. One hundred and fifty birds used were randomly allotted to the different treatments. There were Ten birds in each replicate, while the number of birds per treatment is Thirty in a Complete Randomized Design. The study lasted for 8 weeks during which water and feed were given to the bird’s ad libitium. The parameters measured were carcass yield and organ proportions of broilers. Data collected were analyzed using ANOVA, and Duncan Multiple Range test was used to separate the means. The live weight of Ti, T2 and T3 were not significantly different (P>0.05) from each other when compare to T4 and T5 which were significantly higher (P<0.05).The dressed weight showed that broiler chicken fed T2, T3, and T4 were not significantly different (P>0.05) from each other, but those fed T5 were significantly higher (P<0.05) than Ti.The dressing percent, back cut, breast, shank, wings ,drumstick and thigh showed that there was no significant different (P>0.05) across the treatment group respectively. The kidney showed that broiler chickens fed Tj, T2, T3 and T5 were not significantly different (P>0.05) from each other, but those fed T4 were significantly higher (P<0.05) than those fed T4and T5. The proventriculus ofthose fed Ti, T2, T4 and T5 were not significantly different (P>0.05) from each other, but they were significantly lower (P<0.05) than those fed T3. The result ofthe crop showed there was no significant different (P>0.05) from each other, among those fed Ti, T2, and T4, but those fed T3 were significantly higher (P<0.05) than those fed T5 and Ti respectively. The result ofthe spleen showed that broiler chicken fed T2 and T3 were not significantly different from each other but were significantly higher than those fed Ti,T4 and T5 respectively. The result of intestines and abdominal fat had the same trend of significances where broiler chickens fed Ti,T2,T4 and T5 were not significantly different (P>0.05) from each other, but they were significantly lower (P<0.05) to those fed T3.
