ABSTRACT

This study was designed to examine the budgeting and budgetary control as a tool for the enhancement of organizational productivity. Since resources are relatively scarce and limited, anyone involved in some way in their management is necessarily concerned with the effective utilization of resources available to her discharging the economic functions for which she is responsible. Budgeting and budgetary control become the most tactical instrument for both decision-making as well as allocation of resources. Budget as a profit planning device sets standards of performance of manager, while budgetary control is a tool employed by management to keep track of actual performance to ensure budgeted standards are achieved. In the course of this research work 100 managers were taken as sample population. Data is obtained through personal interview and the administration of questionnaires secondary data source is also employed. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested using chi-square at 5% level of significant. The analysis of the finding indicates that there is certain level of awareness in organization, results obtained from the study should have a high positively level between budgetary control and budget. the Following recommendations review that management must ensure that established target are not only realistic in nature, management must ensure that there must be active participation and proper coordination, also, an integral aspect of a budgeting system in the process of setting budget standards.
