ABSTRACT
The biocontrol potentials of
Bacteriocin Producing Rhizospheric Bacteria Isolates of Tumeric Plants was
Studied. Rhizosperic Soil of the Tumeric Plant were analyzed for bacteria
flora, ability to produce bacteriocin. The Antibacteria Activity of the
isolates and the antifungal activity of crude bacteriocin extract against known
fungi pathogen of plants including Fusarium, collectortridium. phytophtora and
Aspergillus. Results obtained shows that bacteria flora carried many bacteria
species including . lactobacillus. Pseudomonas, and Bacillus species including
B subtillis, B pumulis, B aeruginosa and B linchinformis with varying level of
prevalence .ranging from 60°/o(Bacillus linchifbrmis) to 100% (P. aeruginosa
and B. subtillis). The antibacterial activity of the isolates against some
pathogenic bacterial activity with the inhibition zones with diameter ranging
from 9.33mm (pseudomonas) to 12.33mm (B subtilis). The in vitro control of
fungi pathogen test show inhibitions of the pathogen in the range of 0.00
(Pseudomonas') to 12.13mm (bacillus) against fusarium and from 6.33mm
(Pseudomonas) to 14.67mm(B subtillis) against collectotridium. Phytophtora was
inhibited to the tune of 0.00mm (pseudomonas) to 14.6mm (lactobacillus) and
lowest (6.33mm) with Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. The relative potency of the
extracts of the isolate extract (cell free supernatant) showed that the
organism preferred lower than the standard antifungal drug (mancozede) with
variation between the action on the different fungi pathogen.
