Beneficial Technologies On The Farm: An Indispensable Part Of The Extension Team: -Prof. Ekumankama Oji O
ABSTRACT
Extension is a
difficult term to define because it is organized in different ways to
accomplish a wide variety of objectives. The term, therefore, has a variety of
meanings to different people, suggesting that there is no single definition of
extension that is universally accepted or that is applicable to all situations
(Swanson and Claar, 1984). However, the authors defined extension as an
on-going process of getting useful information to people (the communication
dimension) and then in assisting those people to acquire the necessary knowledge,
skills, and attitudes to utilize effectively this information or technology
(the educational dimension). Extension education can be defined as an informal
out-of-school system of education designed to help rural people to satisfy
their needs, interests, and desires(Obibuaku, 1983).
