Appraisal Of Accounting Information As A Tool For Effective And Efficient Financial Reporting System (A Study Of Pz Cusson Plc, Aba, Abia State)
ABSTRACT
This study appraises accounting information as a tool for effective and efficient
financial reporting system, using PZ Plc, Aba, as a study. The researcher adopted
descriptive survey sampling method for this work. Data were sourced through the
use questionnaire from primary sources. The population of the study is seventy-
one (71). The researcher adopted Taro Yamen's sample size determination in
determining the sample size for this study, thus, the sample size is sixty-seven
(67). Several statistical tools such as tables, percentages, and simple regression
model were employed, in the analyses of data and testing of the formulated
hypotheses. The two null hypotheses were rejected, while the two alternative
hypotheses were accepted. The study revealed that there is a significant positive
relationship between accounting information and efficient and effective reporting
system in Nigeria and that accounting information has a significant effect on
perception of quality of financial reports in Nigeria. The study recommends
among other things that, all manufacturing organisation and other companies
should endeavour to adopt and comply with the ruling standards in Nigeria, since
it is capable of changing the perceptions of users. Furthermore, Regulatory
frameworks should intensify their effort at unifying standards implementation, so
as to control the reporting systems in Nigeria.
