ABSTRACT
The ultimate objective of this work is to analyze split plot experiment. In this work, we have two factors fertilizer and soybean cultivar. The former has four levels while the later has three levels with four replicates. Analysis of variance technique was employed in analyzing the data. To accept the validity of the test, independence test was carried out and it was observed that the observed values were independent, also ,a chi - square goodness of fit test for normality of yield was used and it test was found that the distribution was normal. Again, Bartlett test for homogeneity of variance was used and it was observed that the variances were equal. Furthermore, we tested for randomness using runs test and it was observed that the observed values occurred at random. The analysis of variance is based on those assumptions. Based on the analysis, fertilizer and soybean cultivars were found to have no significant effect on the yield of soybean. Also the interaction of fertilizer with soybean cultivars were found to be non significant. The data used for this work were a secondary data collected from Mr. V.E. Osodeke.
