ABSTRACT
This
Project work is the Analysis of a Modified Single Effect Solar Vapour Powewred Absorption
Refrigeration System. The
System is designed to accommodate 2 Heat Exchangers, a Solar collector that
absorbs solar energy from the sun rays through the help of photovoltaic cells,
a Generator which Converts or transforms the solar energy to heat energy
released into the system, a condenser, an evaporator, 2 expansion valve, a
pump. All these components are incorporated to help reduce the effect of the
heat energy by declining the high temperature of the system which initial was identified
to be 40OC to achieve a
temperature of about 5OC by
addition of a heat exchanger to the evaporator compartment which maintained
this temperature and provided optimum level of coefficient of performance. This is basically why 2 heat
exchangers were used in the system instead of one because of this effect, this
System aims also to increase the coefficient of performance to 0.612 which is
noted to be an improvement in the refrigerating effect compared to other
counterparts of the system developed in region. The overall result of the
system will increase the cooling capacity of the refrigerant and the
coefficient of performance to the optimum. Even if variable temperature is
considered it will give the most suitable temperature to achieve the optimum cooling
capacity under adverse environmental conditions. An increase in the Temperature
of the Generator will result in increase in the COP and the cooling capacity at
reduced absorber temperature.
