ABSTRACT
This research
work is designed to assess to what extent management and accounting control
techniques have enhanced the effectiveness of joint venture operations in oil
and gas industry. Some of the constraints associated with joint venture
performance arc funding, reduction in operation, and consequential loss in revenue,
therefore need for an efficient management and accounting control systems that
will ensure that performance of the venture is satisfactory. The instrument
used in the research work is primary and secondary data. Questionnaires were
distributed the accounts/administrative departments of Nigeria National perform
Cooperation (NNPC) also their annual recoils were necessary iii development of
the research. The population is drawn from the administrative, senior and
junior staff of the company and sample size of the study is derived from a
statistical instrument Taro formulae. The researcher made use of descriptive
and chi-square techniques in analyzing the result. Findings reveal that 87.5%
respondent indicated a large extent, and 12.5% indicated an average extent to
which management and accounting control techniques enhance the effectiveness of
ventures operations as it reduces uncertainly and ensures productivity. It is
found that information 4- is also necessary as it enables managers in carrying
out their duties effectively and efficiently, and if the accounting and
management techniques are applied it will ensure that operation of the venture
is satisfactory. Finally there should be perodtc review of the activities u I
angers and accountants to ensure the success of the company also managers
should endeavour to expand and refine their management and accounting control
tools such that it will suit the trend.
