ABSTRACT

Inadequate power supply has been a problem in some developing countries example Nigeria so* therefore there is need for provision of other sources of power supply which involves the use of organic matter through the process of biodegradation to produce biogas which can serve as source of renewable energy This study centered the Isolation and characterization of bacteria with amylolytic profile during anaerobic digestion of(feel in your substrates)was carried out .The batch type biodigester that was locally fabricated was used on the study. The experiment lasted for 30 days. The phy siochemical parameters of the co-digested substrates showed pH range (5.5-7.0). temperature (32°C- 35°C). The proximate compositions gave the following .Ash content (7.5g).fiber content (2.95g).crude fat( 0.73g).The total biogas production of the substrates gave 1000ml.Bacterial counts ranged between 3.9x10A7 cfu/g and 4.1xl0A4 cfu/amylolytic bacteria isolated includes Bacillus spp. Escherichia coli. pseudomonas aeruginosa .Enterobacter app. In conclusion, further investigation of amylolytic groups of bacteria beyond 30 days of anaerobic retention period should be investigated.
