A Survey Of Factors Affecting Internally Generated Revenue In Nigeria Local Government Council (A Study Of Umuahia North-I Local Government Area In Abia State)
Abstract
The study was designed to analyze the internally Generated revenue
in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State. The factors
influencing the amount of revenue and the sources of internally
generated revenue were analyzed. Data were positively collected
specifically in Umuahia Ncrth Local Government Area. The data
were analyzed using simple regression analysis, Pearson correction
analysis and t-statistics. In this study, diverse machineries or
sources of revenue were used such as taxes and rates, fines and
licenses. From the analysis and result obtained it was observed that
the majority of respondent agree that there is significant
relationship between the two variables under study which led to the
rejection of the hypothesis carlier. The analysis shows that there is
a significant relationship between effective management of funds
and revenue generation. Also there is a significant relationship
between efficiency of governing council and revenue generation.
These hypotheses above vere tested using simple regression
analysis this led to rejectioii of Null hypothesis and acceptance ol
alternative hypothesis. The Pearson correlation analysis were used
to analyze how adequate tm funds and the performance of the
L.G.A, which shows a positive and significant relationship. The
study gave the summary and a conclusion that effective and
efficient management of funds by the governing council is a vital
tool for revenue generation.
