ABSTRACT

 A Fingerprint based android voting system is one that facilitates the running of elections online using an android application on a fingerprint enabled smartphone to organize voting process and verify voters during the election of student leaders in Nigerian institutions. This system helps facilitate voting through the internet by providing a credible voting platform for students who use android devices. The motivation for this project are the numerous problems faced by the manually conducted elections which include violence at polling centers , voting more than once , voter identification problems, long time-wasting queues etc. which usually negatively affect the results of the election. In this era of advanced technology where online systems boosts work speed, reduces mistakes and promote the generation of accurate results, having a manual system like the paper-based version becomes a misfortune .. The methodology includes steps such as the inception of the idea, analysis of the needed system, design, development, testing and final production. The system proved that a computerized solution is possible with elimination of human related faults that are a commonplace in employment of human clerks to manage the election process. This project has proposed the basic structure of the system and its functionality which can be employed to replace the current electoral system used in Nigerian Schools. It achieves the result of creating an online system, which involves procedures like registration of voters, vote casting, vote counting, biometric identification of voters and declaring results etc. which constitute a good solution to replace current system that is in Nigerian Institutions by providing convenience to the voter and reduce the time wasted in the queuing process at election centers and also promote security in the voting process.
