ABSTRACT

This paper discussed the concept of empowering women as it relates to the services provided by the library. It defined key words used in the paper and explained the importance of books which constitute dominant form of resources in most libraries. It also examined levels of women empowerment and the condition of Nigerian women today. In this context, it examined the condition of Nigeria women today such as their educational, health and employment status. How the library actually empowers women using its resources was x-rayed. Recommendations for adequate funding of existing libraries and establishment of more libraries were proffered. It also calls for women to sue library resources as this will empower them.
