The Impact Of Working Capital Management On The Profitability Of Manufacturing Firms In Nigeria (A Study Of Nigeria Breweries Plc)
ABSTRACT
The major objective of the research was to examine the impact of working capital management on the profitability of manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The Data were sourced from secondary sources collected from the company's financial statement and annual report of the firm. The data was analyzed using Multiple Regression Analysis to show the relationship between the dependent variable and two or more independent variables and Simple Regression Analysis to show the relationship between one dependent variable and one independent variable. The four hypotheses formulated were tested using Multiple and Simple Regression Analysis. lie major findings of this research work were that at the multivariate level of analysis; the weakness of net working capital was exposed, meaning that it was not a helpful explanatory variable to the growth in Net income, hu current assets were positive and significant as expected, while liquid assets were negative. The Bivariate model was used in order to investigate further the likely impact of each of the variables Net Working Capital, Currents Assets and I iquid Assets on Net Income. The recommendations of this research therefore remains that since current assets are the main drivers of a Company's Net Income, they should be maintained to increase profit, while Net Working Capiul and Liquid Assets should be properly determined by managers to ensure profitability of manufacturing firms in Nigeria.
