ABSTRACT
This research study assesses empirically the
effect of work force management on organizational growth using non-academic
staff of college of management sciences(COLMAS), college of veterinary
medicine(CVM), college of engineering and engineering technology(CEET), college
of natural sciences(COLNAS) and college of physical and applied
sciences(COLPAS) in michael okpara university of agriculture umudike, Abia
state. The general objective of this study is to investigate the contribution
of workforce management to organizational growth .lnorder to achieve the above
objective, the following research questions were asked: to what extent does
workforce planning affect labour productivity? And is there any relationship
between employee diversity management and labour productivity? Two hypothesis
were advanced i) workforce planning does not improve labour productivity. ii)
there are no relationships between employee diversity management and labour
productivity. The study uses survey research method and the chi-square
technique was used for data analysis. A total of 204 questionnaires were
administered out of which 181(88.7%) were returned and 23(11.3%) were
unreturned The findings of this study are that majority of the staff strongly
agree that workforce planning affects labour productivity, majority of the
respondents affirmed that labour productivity can be improved when diversities
among employees are properly managed, the study also revealed that majority of
the respondents revealed that workforce management leads to improved
organizational performance. Therefore, the study recommends that the management
should make .frantic effort to effectively and efficiently manage its workforce
because they are the main determiners of the success of the organization.
