Solutions And Zeros Of Legendre Differential Equations, Properties And Applications
ABSTRACT
The Legendre
differential equation occurs in many physical problem, and is considered as one
of the "big" equations of physics and engineering, Owing to this
fact, this work analyses the direct method of solving the Legendre differential
equation (the power series method). This work also analyses the properties of
the Legendre polynomials and their applications to the solution of the Legendre
differential equation. It also considers the roles of the Legendre differential
equation particularly in the solution of the Laplacian in spherical coordinate.
It also shows how the generating function of the Legendre polynomial is applied
in expanding some useful functions in physics.
