ABSTRACT

An experiment was conducted to determine the response offinisher broiler chicken to enzyme supplemented diet. 180 birds were procured at day old and were brooded and raised for four weeks prior to commencement of the data collection. The experimental design was completely randomized design (CRD). There were five treatments, each replicated three times with 12 birds per replicate. The enzyme used was Anazyme(R) phytase and tire supplementation level were 0, 0.01, 0.015, 0.020, and 0.025% in Tj, T2, T3, T4, T5, respectively. Measurements taken were daily feed intake, daily weight gain, final live weight, feed conversion ratio (FCR),protein intake and protein efficiency ratio (PER),Tire feed cost indices were cost per Kg of diet, total feed cost and cost per Kg live weight gain. Results showed that there were no significant (P >0.05) differences among the finisher broilers fed the control and enzyme supplemented diets in all the growth and feed cost parameters measured. However, tire daily weight gain ofthe broilers were (Ti) 30.057, (T2) 29.61, (T3) 23.89,(T4) 30.44 and (T5) 33.057 and corresponding daily feed intake (Tj) 110.92 (T2) 109.76, (T3) 110.28, (T4) 108.94, (T5) 114.83 and cost per Kg weight gain among treatment (T3), (T2) and (Tj) with the values N460.08, N 374.80, and N 363.78.
