Protective Effect Of Aqueous Annona Muricata Linn. Leaf Extract On Haematological Indices Of Male Wistar Rats Treated With Used Motor Engine Oil:- Maduakolam Chisom F
ABSTRACT
This research project was aimed at evaluating the effect of Annonia imiricata leaf extract on hematological indices of male wistar rats treated with used motor engine oil (UMEO). This study was carried out on healthy adult male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) weighing 80-160g and randomly assigned into 7 groups of 5 rats each. The rats used for this study were grouped as follows: Group 1: (Distilled water-treated “control”), Group 2: (4 ml of UMEO/kg of animal feed: “negative control"). Group 3: Extract (100 mg/kg b.w.t) + 4 ml of UMEO/kg of animal feed). Group 4: (Extract (200 mg/kg b.w.t) + 4 ml of UMEO/kg of animal feed), Group 5: (4 ml of UMEO kg of animal feed + Extract (100 mg/kg b.w.t) Group 6: (4 ml of UMEO/kg of animal feed + Extract (200 mg/kg b.w.t) Group 7: (4 ml of UMEO/kg of animal feed + Vitamin C (100 mg/kg b.w.t: “Positive Control”). The result of the heamatological parameters indicated that there was a significant (p<0.05) difference within the groups. The plant extract has shown to have blood boosting potentials, and body defense capacity thereby making it an ameliorative antidote for anemia and many other blood related illness and diseases.>
