ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact of motivation towards workers productivity in hopita1ity industry. Motivation is what causes people to act Cr do something in a particular way. By understanding why people behave in the way they do, managers can improve their design of job and the working environment to match closely to the economy, social and personal need of the employees. This is because motivation is seen as a process by which managers achieve their set goals through their employees. Therefore, the motivational tools used by landmark hotel include, training, promotion, salary cordial relationship between the employees and their boss etc, many theories that addresses the question why people do' things were treated. One hotel was selected by using a simple random technique which was a population of 160 staff i.e.80 junior staff, 60 senior staff and 20 management staff. Ninety questionnaires items were fully completed and returned. Chi-square (x²) was used in analyzing the data. Results from the data revealed that one of the benefits enjoyed most in the organization by employees is meal subsidy as indicated by (57.8%). Result also 1 showed that there is discrimination in employing staff in the organization which is done through gender as indicated by (44.4%). Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that there is need to provide more of the fringe benefits as extra reward for workers contribution to enhance the productivity of the organization.
