The Imo River flows ftom the middle belt to south through Inio State hence its name, it receives torni water runoff from bordering agricultural 4 lands as well as effluents containing sewage sludge discharged into forest clearings by its borders; The river flows past 3 major 1shing points or settlements in Irno tte. They are: Umunna Okigwc in Okigwe Local Government, Ekenobizi at Umuah!a North Local Government in Abia State and also the Imo river village t Owerrienta in Imo State.
