ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study to determine the information needs of the students iii Ibeku high schools to review the information resources available in the library, to examine the extent of use the library resources by students of Ibe/cu high school, to study the reason for the use of school library by students of Ibeku high school. Tofind out the type of library services that the school library in Ibekii high school offers to useiand to identfy the problem militating against the use (?f school library in lhekii high school. The research design for the study is descriptive survey. The populalion of the siucly is 100 and the scimple technique is complete census. Instrument/or data collection is questionnaire. 100 copies of the questionnairq were distributed to 100 students of ibeku high school all returned representing 100%. To analyze data, statistical package for social science (SPSS 2000,), standard deviation and criterion mean were used. Frequency lab/c was used for data presentation. The • findings revealed that tst ' Ij n ithe students of Ibeku high school strongly agreed =b/4' poid &J4s that there is a high needfor M. government to provide agricultural, health and governmental information in the school library. Based on the research finding, the findings revealed that secondary school students face mcy constraints in lI.sing school library which include paucity of fiun inadequate reading materials, limited reading hours, inadequate silting facilities andssional teacher librarian. However, the study recommended that j'i'fiind should be made available to provide current readin' and employment qfquaIfied teacher librarian to manage the school library.
