The study is an attempt to investigate the
Impact of Government Expenditure on Education and Poverty Reduction in Nigeria.
poverty is a state of poor welfare of citizens in an economy. However, there is
no objective definition of poverty and no objective way of measuring how many
people are poor. Recent years, there is advancement in our understanding of the
link between education and poverty reduction in developing countries. The
importance of government expenditure in the process of human development is
well recognized. Education does not only provide a better quality of life for
every citizen of any nation but also have positive effects on the economic
growth and development of a country. The provision of education is a key
element of a policy to promote broad-based economic growth and there is no
doubt that only investment in human capital can contribute significantly to
global competitiveness. The study centered on the effect of government expenditure
on education and poverty reduction in Nigeria (1981-2017). The study will be
focusing more on the relationship between government expenditure on education
and poverty reduction in Nigeria and the long run relationship between
government expenditure on education and poverty reduction in Nigeria.
