ABSTRACT

This study the impact ofglobalization on the economic growth ofNigerian economy from 1981 to 2018 has its prime objective ofevaluating the impact ofglobalization on economic growth of Nigerian economy. The data was primary oriented data sourced from central Bank Statistical Bulletin ofthe current edition. The study employed ADE test, co-integration and error correction modelfor the analysis ofthe data. The result ofthe unit root test revealed that variables were integrated of order one and two. The co-integration test indicated on co-inlegrating equation which showed a presence oflong run relationship among the variables. While the ECM showed a speed ofadjustment of 43% to restore the disequilibrium back to equilibrium and are rightly signed. The study therefore recommend that, government of the day should invest of capital project more than the recurrent expenditures in the economy. This will give room to development ofinfrastructures in all the nook and crannies ofthe Nigerian economy ifthe whole dividends of globalization must be achieved. The Nigerian government should develop the financial institutions in the economy to adopt the international best practices which the investing countries or trade partners wants to experience in the host countries as it is obtained in the investing nations. Insecurity in the country should be reduced Io a manageable degree to attract foreign investors into the country. There has been cases ofkidnapping and other social vices all over the country which projects the image ofthe country negative before the international communities.
