ABSTRACT

The study evaluated the impact of management theories on organizational performance, with special interest on selected courier services in Aba, Abia State. The total population of the staff of the selected courier service was given as 200. The sample size was determined from the given population using Taro Yamene formula. Hence, the sample size was derived as 134. Copies of questionnaires were drafted and distributed to sampled staff of selected courier services. The responses generated were analyzed using relevant statistical tools like correlation coefficient (r = 0. 90. 0. 79 and 0.8) and the formulated hypotheses were tested using t - test at 5% level of significance. The results of the analysis provided the findings summarized below: management level of awareness on the various forms of management theories enhances the performance of managers of selected courier services; The extent to which management of business organizations adopt various forms of management theories guarantee efficiency and reliability of management decision: the adoption of management theories by managers of the selected courier services has a significant impact on organizational performance. Based on the findings of this study, the researcher proffers the following recommendations, the adoption of management theories in decision making process of business organizations should be encouraged. and more enlightenment programmes should be organized for managers and other related bodies saddled with the responsibility of formulating and implementing decisions in an organization. This is done to improve their knowledge on the various forms of management decisions and their usefulness in ensuring that quality and reliable decisions are made.
