Empirical Analysis Of The Imp Act Of Capital Inflow On Economic Growth Of Nigeria.:- Ogba Magdalene C
ABSTRACT
This work
examined the impact of capital inflow on the economic growth of Nigeria within
the framework of 1980- 2017. The broad objective of the study was to determine
the impact of capital inflow on economic growth of Nigeria. The variables used
in the study include foreign aid (AID), remittances (RMC), foreign direct
investment (FDI), and external debt (ED) as independent variables, growth rate
of real gross domestic product (GRGDP) as the dependent variable. The data on
these variables were sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical
bulletin, 2018. The unit root result revealed that only GR GDP is integrated of
order O (1(0), foreign aid (AID), external debt (ED) and remittances (RMC) are
all integrated of order 1, I (1). Finally foreign direct investment (FDI) is
integrated of order 2, I (2). The study made use of Augmented Dickey Fuller
Test, OLS (Ordinary Least Square) techniques. The study recommends that
developing countries should make their economies investment friendly since
foreign investments have tendency of growing their economies and workers
remittances should be encouraged in developing economies. Also government of
developing countries should make policies that will make loc_al investments to
thrive so as to complement foreign capital inflows. Foreign aid should
