Efficient Human Resources Management For Higher Productivity In Agriculture (A Study Of National Root Crops Research Institute Umudike, Abia State)
ABSTRACT
The efficiency of the human resources
management of an organization becomes doubtful when such organization is
performing below expectation; and the National Root Crops Research Institute,
Umudike is no exception in this regard. Armstrong has discussed extensively on
human resources management as a major factor in the overall success of any
organization. This therefore necessitated this study. Toe instrument used for
collecting data was the questionnaire, and staff performing human resource
functions constituted the population of study of twenty five (25) and a sample
size of twenty four (24) was arrived at by formular. The data so collected were
analyzed in percentages, while the Chi-square testing technique was used in the
test of hypotheses. The findings of the research study were that there is no
efficient human resource management in the institute; and that there is no
positive relationship between human resource functions and productivity. The
researcher recommended that the relationship between management and staff
should be improved, and personnels involved in human resource functions should
be encouraged to go for in service training.
