ABSTRACT
This study sought to
find out the effects of selected human resource management practices on
organizational performance in Nigerian. The objectives of this research study
were to analyze the effects of recruitment on the profitability of the selected
banks; examine the effects of training on the profitability of employees of
each selected banks; find out relationship between reward and market share
system on the performance of the employees of the selected banks. Specifically,
the study adopted the survey method using a population with stratified random
sampling. Both primary and secondary data were used. Data was collected using a
questionnaire. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, correlation
analysis and regression analysis. The reliability of the study instrument was
conducted by means of Cronbach's Alpha. From the study, it was found that the
independent variables such as training, recruitment, and reward and market
share have a significant positive effect on performance of commercial banks at
1% level of significance. The result of the variance ratio (40.57) for the
first hypothesis was greater than the tabulated value of F ratio (0000), this
implies that recruitment practices have significant effects on employee
performance. The result of the second hypothesis shows that the variance ratio
(5.09) was greater than the tabulated value of F ratio (0.03 1), this implies
that training have a significant effects on employees performance. The result
of variance ratio (22.75) of the third hypothesis was greater than the
tabulated value of F ratio (4.46), this implies that reward and motivation have
significant effects on employee. The study therefore concludes that human
resource management practices have significant effects on the performance of
employees in the selected commercial banks. It is recommended that banks should
develop and document those human resource management practices that are linked
with the overall bank performance.
