ABSTRACT
Six Cowpea varieties (IT89KD — 391, 1T89KD — 288,
1F86KD - 719, IAR 48. I f assessed for resistance against root-knot nematode
field naturally infested with Meloidogyne incognita. Three varieties were
resistant,two were tolerant and one was rated susceptible experiment with plant
extracts in the greenhouse and field. The experiments were laid out in a
Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD)
with 14 treatments; (Hot water extracts (UWE) and Cold water extracts ol (CWE)
of Capsicum frutescens, Afromomum melegueta, Xylopia actiopica, Occimum
grattissimum. Nicotiana tabacum, Piper guinense, Lambdacyhalothrin and I
control) replicated 3 times. The result of the greenhouse experiment showed
that HWE O. grattisimum, HWE and CWE ofA. melegueta and HWE / aetiopica
significantly increased yield (<0.05) and suppressed did not differ
significantly with the synthetic insecticide-Lambdacy/udolhrin. The leaf by
