ABSTRACT

This study centers on the effects of organizational structure on the performance of selected Nigerian banks using First bank, diamond bank and Fidelity bank, Nigerian Plc as case study. Besides the broad objective, the study specifically sought to examine the nature of relationships between structures and performance of the banks, to evaluate the effects of the structures on the performance of the selected Nigerian commercial banks and to ascertain whether the structure of the selected banks has a significant positive effect on workers performance. We gathered., as much information as required from both primary and secondary sources .Chi-square and jrodct moment correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data collected and from our findings, we discovered that a positive relationship exist between the organizational structure of the banks and their performance and the managerial staff of the banks in Abia state showed that organizational structure has a significant positive effect on the enhancement of performance in the selected banks. in view of the above, we therefore recommend that the organizational structures should be decentralized as much as possible to facilitate innovation and enhance employees' oh satisfaction in the banks in Nigeria. Also banks in Abia state and Nigeria in general, should align their organizational structures along functional departmentation as it better suited for optimum performance
