Effect Of Various Rates Of Fertilizer On Growth And Development Of Mungbean Vigna Radia Ta(L.) Wilczek In Umudike
ABSTRACT
An experiment was conducted in the rainy season of MayAUgU5t 2004,in Umudike to investigate the effect of various fertilizer rates oti growth and yield of three Mungbean varieties. The experiment was laid out in a factorial in randomized complete block design (ItCBD) with three replicates. The results indicated that growth parameters and yield components were influenced by fertilizer and application rates. Fertilizer significantly enhanced the height and leaf number. Fertilizer also advanced both days to 50% flowering and maturity. NM-94 gave maximum yield of 0.98t/ha at 100kg/ha N.P.K (15:15:15) followed by VC-6372 (45-8-1), which at 150kg/ha gave seed yield of 0.96t/ha. Based on the result, further trials should be conducted with NM-94 during the dry season not only to determine its performance but also to elucidate other agronomic and cultural requirements for optimum yield.
