Effect Of The Use Of Management Information Systems On The Administration Of Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture, Umudike.
ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to find out
the "Effect of the use of Management Information Systems in university
administration" and this work focused on Michael Okpara University of
Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU). The intention of this research is to establish
the purposes for which MOUAU is using the MIS with particular reference to
whether and how they are using this system efficiently and effectively in
carrying out administrative activities and further to gather ideas on how to
improve the system. The sample of three hundred and two employees was selected
for the study from MOUAU. The tabular method was used to analyse the data and
chi-square method was used in hypotheses testing. The findings indicate that
there is little knowledge about MIS among staff of MOUAU, there is no free flow
of information among staff and computerization in MOUAU is a bit laid back.
Recommendations were made in line with the findings which include: To hold more
training programmes to create more awareness on MIS among staff, an advanced
and efficient communications network is needed to enhance the flow of
information among staff and finally computer software should be constantly
upgraded and hardware adequately maintained.
