ABSTRACT

The  study  examined the  effect of  human  capital  cost  on the  performance  of  deposit   money Banks   in Nigeria. The  objectives were  to  determine   the  effect  of  human  capital  cost  on  the profitabi I  ity of deposit  money  banks  in Nigeria,  assess  the  effect of human    capital  cost  on the net  asset  of  deposit   money   banks  and  to  appraise the  extent  to  which   human   capital   cost enhances the total  revenue. The research  designed employed was ex- post facto  research design. The Data was sourced from secondary sources.  Analyses of data and testing  of hypotheses were done  through the  aid  of  statistical tools  such  as tables,   and  multiple  regression  model.   The findings   from   data   analyzed    indicates   that  taxation   measured    by  Company  Income   Tax, Petroleum    Profit  Tax,   Value   added  Tax  and  Personal   Income   Tax  software has  significant effect   on  the  total  revenue  in Nigeria.    The study  however   revealed   that  Human  capital    cost    is positively  affected by profit after tax,  net  assets  and total  revenue.   This  simply means  that  an increase in the  independent    variables  will    automatically  cause   an  increase  in the  dependent  variable   (total revenue)  and therefore the researcher   recommended   that Deposit  Banks  should  make policies  that will enhance their training Programmes,   Since  human  capital   cost have a positive   effect on total revenue, deposit   money banks should always carry out employee performance  appraisal  and also Banks  should invest more on human capital utilization  to enhance  their employee performance.
