Effect Of Fiscal And Monetary Policies On Poverty Reduction In Nigeria:- Kalu Glory U
ABSTRACT
The major objective of this study
was to analyse the relationship between monetary and fiscal policies and
poverty reduction in Nigeria, using annual data spanning the period 1980- 2018.
Specifically, it sought to: examine the impact of fiscal and monetary policies
on poverty reduction in Nigeria and determine the existence of long run
relationship between monetary and fiscal policies and poverty reduction in
Nigeria. The study employed the Ordinary Least square (OLS) technique, and the
Johansen test to address the specific objectives. This study has revealed that
inflation, interest rate has a direct impact on poverty reduction and GDP and
money supply has an indirect impact on poverty reduction in Nigeria; also, tax,
total government expenditure and unemployment has a direct impact on poverty
reduction in Nigeria; there is a long run relationship between monetary and
fiscal policies and poverty reduction in Nigeria. TOPIC: The relationship
