ABSTRACT

The study focused on effect of agricultural diversification on food security in Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to ascertain the effect of agricultural diversification on food security in Nigeria and to determine the long run relationship between agricultural diversification on food security in Nigeria. The study employed unit root test and ordinary least square regression technique. Thus, revealed that; livestock production has a positive and significant impact on food security in Nigeria, fisheries production has a positive and significant impact on food security in Nigeria and crop production has a positive and significant impact on food security in Nigeria. Based on the finding, the study recommended that; government should mandate central bank to increase their credit giving capacity so as to booth the agricultural industry in Nigeria. Government should continue to spend more especially on agriculture in order to boost the production capacity.More policies should be crated to encourage the credit guarantee scheme in the country. Governments should encourage formation of farmer's cooperative societies at local level, so as to ensure adequate funding for agriculture which will enhance agricultural productivity.-
