ABSTRACT
Solar energy is in abundance in Nigeria and is put to good
use in a variety of ways though its intensity varies according to the timing of
the day and geographic location. It's also a clean and eco-friendly source of
energy. In this project, light rays from the sun are effectively captured on
parabolic reflector and brought to a sharp focus to heat a cooking pot and the
heat is sustained for maximum cooking energy. Design, construction and testing
of the parabolic solar stove was successfully achieved. The sun tracking was
made by manual angling of the parabolic reflector and a pressure pot sits at
the focal point. The system and entire assembly were tested in average/sunny
and cloudy conditions. The test result reveals a higher temperature of 104°C
within the pressure cooker
