Crop Vampires: Strategies For Sustainable Management In Smallholder Farming System In Nigeria [Inaugural Lecture Series No. 11]
Introduction
It is my singular honour and privilege to welcome you to this lecture. I am very much delighted and thankful to the Almighty God for this opportunity to deliver the 11th Inaugural Lecture of this great institution. I am particularly happy and indeed grateful to deliver the first Inaugural Lecture chaired by our erudite Vice-Chancellor since he took over the mantle of leadership of this University. I am again delighted because this is the first Inaugural Lecture from the Department of Plant Health Management and the second from the College of Crop and Soil Sciences.
When the lot fell on me to give this lecture, my mind went back to my undergraduate and graduate days at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, where Professors mounted the podium at the famous Oduduwa hall and delivered eloquent Inaugural Lectures. I wished at that time that some day the opportunity would come for me to do it. Here, I am today to fulfill at long burning desire
