Politics
as we know is a part and parcel of every human being. Tncugh some claim not to
be politicians but yet nobody is apolitical as there is a steady increase to be
at the top and the medium through which one can follow is bent to politics,
which often have some economic involvements. In this research, we compared the
estimated amount of money spent on political campaign by gender in the Student
Union Government (SUG), using Michael Okpara university of Agriculture, Umudike
as the case study. We experienced some factors that played a very significant
role on the political financing in the institution, such as: Incumbency,
Partisanship and Cultural beliefs of a people. The political campaign finance
was analyzed using Z-test statistical technique to compare the mean difference
on estimated campaign finance. The Z-test assumptions were stated, tested and
justified. The results obtained from this research suggest that there is a
significant gender difference in the amount of money spent on political
campaign.
