Clothing Design Preferences Of School Aged Children (6-11 Years) In Selected School In Imo State
ABSTRACT
The study examined the clothing
design preferences of school aged children were determine. The factors the
parents considered when purchasing clothes for school aged children were also identified.
The total sample size was 300. Validated pilot tested structured questionnaires
were administered to the pupils by simple random method. One hundred and sixty
completed questionnaires were returned. Frequencies and simple percentages were
used in analyzing the data. Results from the data revealed that one of the
major factors that influenced the clothing preferences of school aged children
were their peers as indicated by 43% of the respondents. Results also showed
that family income was the factor considered by the parents when purchasing
clothing for school aged children as indicated by 39% of the respondents. Based
on the findings of the study, it was recommended that parents should also be
involved in the clothing choice for their children since children are mostly
concerned with the attractiveness of the clothing when making their clothing
choices.
